Functions

auto geometry (const Planet planet, const double jde_tt) -> astro::illumination::Geometry
 Calculate observer-facing geometry for a planet.

Function Documentation

◆ geometry()

auto astro::planet::observation::geometry ( const Planet planet,
const double jde_tt )->astro::illumination::Geometry
inlinenodiscard

Calculate observer-facing geometry for a planet.

Parameters
planetThe planet to calculate, from Mercury through Pluto.
jde_ttThe Julian Ephemeris Day based on TT.
Returns
Great-circle separation from the Sun, target-centered phase angle, and illuminated fraction.

Uses the apparent geocentric positions from sun::geocentric_coord::apparent and planet::geocentric_coord::apparent, inheriting their model scope.

Exceptions
std::invalid_argumentIf jde_tt is not finite or outside the selected planet's documented domain, or planet is not a named enumerator.
std::runtime_errorIf either apparent-position evaluation cannot produce a finite result.
Note
Pluto is available for JDE(TT) [2409543.5, 2488069.5).
